Marketing Plan

First, since this collection will initially be sold on a subscription basis to libraries, ACLS will market the History E-Book Project to libraries, either directly or through consortia. Second, since the readers will be individual scholars and students, the History E-Book Project will also market to this group through direct mail and with space ads in scholarly journals in conjunction with the presses and scholarly societies who are partners in the History E-Book Project.

Since one of the primary goals of the ACLS History E-Book Project is to enhance the reputation of e-books as viable vehicles for scholarly communication, our public-relations campaign will extend to history departments and university administrators, where decisions regarding the merit of different types of works for tenure and promotion are made.
